Jan 11, 2024 · The conference I attended offered choice of the Hilton, or Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. I made a poor choice; we spent 9 days at Hilton Waikoloa Village in November 2023. We visited the Mariott while at the Hilton, it's a far more balanced Hotel (pools / (free) shade / attitude / beach / rooms / vibe).

Hilton Waikoloa a horrible experience. The ocean tower is a horrible place to take a family for a vacation. The pools were shut down for more that half of the vacation time (8 days). Water was shut down for a night. There were cockroaches in the room bringing big questions about the cleanliness and hygiene of the place.

We are staying at the Hilton Waikoloa Village with family fun package & 2 free adult buffet. I just checked the buffet cost, and they are $35 adult (13 and over) and $15 for kids. We are traveling with 13 and 11 year old, so this means it will still cost us $50 every day! We have stayed at this property 15-20 times since the early 90's when it started as a Hyatt Regency. Our view was so beautiful. We had a king bed room with on the oceanside.
